CHILD AND YOUTH PROGRAM ASSISTANT (CDC)

The Child and Youth Program Assistant (CDC) is responsible for providing direct care and supervision to children and youth in a structured, safe, and nurturing environment at the Ellsworth AFB Child Development Center. Key duties include: - Planning and implementing developmentally appropriate activities that promote physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth for assigned age groups. - Ensuring the safety and well-being of all children by maintaining constant supervision, following health and safety protocols, and responding appropriately to emergencies. - Building positive relationships with children, families, and staff through effective communication and collaboration. - Assisting with meal and snack preparation, serving, and cleanup, as well as maintaining cleanliness and organization of the classroom and common areas. - Observing and documenting children's progress, behaviors, and needs, and reporting any concerns to supervisors or parents as appropriate. - Supporting inclusive practices by adapting activities to meet the needs of children with diverse abilities and backgrounds. - Participating in ongoing training and professional development to enhance skills and knowledge in child development and youth programming. - Following all Department of the Air Force Child and Youth Programs policies, regulations, and standards, including those related to child abuse prevention, confidentiality, and recordkeeping. - Assisting with special events, field trips, and program enrichment activities as needed. - Performing other related duties as assigned to support the overall mission of the Child Development Center.

ALL LEVELS: - Must be a high school graduate or equivalent (e.g., GED). Proof of diploma or equivalent required. TARGET LEVEL: - 18 months of experience working in any childcare or youth program. - Completion of DoD-approved competency-training courses, with entry and intermediate level training completed and documented. - Possession and maintenance of one of the following directly related to the assigned age group: Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, Military School Age credential, or other nationally recognized youth development credential. - OR 18 months of experience plus an associate degree with at least 24 credit hours in a field directly related to the assigned age group (e.g., early childhood education, child development, youth development, human development, elementary education, special education, secondary education, youth program administration, recreation, physical education). - OR a bachelor's degree or at least 120 semester hours with 24 credit hours in a directly related field. INTERMEDIATE LEVEL: - Six months of experience equivalent to the CY-01 Entry Level working in a group program for children or youth. - Completion of 3 AF modules (or equivalent) and AF Orientation Training Program. ENTRY LEVEL: - No previous experience required.
