Child and Youth Program Assistant (Summer Hire)

Serves as a Child and Youth Program Assistant (CYPA) in Air Force Child and Youth Programs. Responsibilities include assisting in the implementation of developmentally appropriate activities for children and youth in school age programs. Duties involve supervising children and youth, ensuring their safety and well-being, and maintaining a positive, nurturing environment. The position requires planning and leading activities that promote physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development. Additional responsibilities include setting up and maintaining activity areas, interacting with parents and guardians, and following program policies and procedures. The role may involve working flexible hours, including varying shifts between 0 and 40 hours per week, depending on program needs.

Must be a high school graduate or equivalent, with proof of diploma or equivalent required. For Target Level: 18 months of experience working in any childcare or youth program, plus completion of DoD approved competency-training courses. Additionally, must possess and maintain one of the following directly related to the age group: Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, Military School Age credential, or other nationally recognized youth development credential; OR an associate degree with 24 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, youth development, human development, elementary education, special education, secondary education, youth program administration, recreation, or physical education; OR a bachelor's degree or 120 semester hours with 24 credit hours in the same fields. For Intermediate Level: Six months of experience equivalent to the CY-01 Entry Level working in a group program for children or youth, plus completion of 3 AF modules (or equivalent) and AF Orientation Training Program. For Entry Level: No previous experience required.
