The Registered Nurse (Nurse Manager) for the Med-Surg/Oncology Infusion Suite is responsible for overseeing nursing operations within the chemotherapy and medical-surgical units. Additionally, the role requires managing unit resources, including staffing schedules and inventory, and fostering a collaborative culture that supports evidence-based practice and professional development among team members.

Qualifications include current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Candidates must be graduates of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate accrediting agency and accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). For foreign nursing graduates, possession of a current, full, active, and unrestricted registration meets the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing, with credit for foreign nursing education beyond associate degree/entry level requiring formal degree equivalency validation from a recognized evaluation service such as International Consultants of Delaware (ICD). English language proficiency is required per 38 U.S.C. 7403(f). Grade determinations are based on education and experience: Nurse I, Level I requires an Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing with no additional professional nursing experience; Nurse I, Level II requires an ADN or Diploma plus 1 year of specialized nursing experience equivalent to Nurse I, Level I, or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional experience; Nurse I, Level III requires demonstrated proficiency in practice with self-directed goal setting. Graduate Nurse Technician (GNT) exception allows appointment on a 120-day temporary basis for candidates meeting education requirements but lacking licensure, with possible extension up to two years. Grandfathering provisions apply to current VHA employees in the 0610 series as of January 29, 2024.
