Registered Nurse Residency-Nursing Internship-St. Frances Cabrini

The Registered Nurse Residency-Nursing Internship at St. Frances Cabrini is designed to provide a structured transition from nursing education to professional practice. The role involves comprehensive patient assessment, care planning, and delivery of quality nursing care to an assigned group of patients during a defined work period. Responsibilities include evaluating patient conditions, developing and implementing individualized care plans, and monitoring patient responses to interventions. The nurse will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care and will provide direction and supervision to LVN/LPNs, nursing assistants, unit secretaries, and other clinical or clerical associates. By assignment, the nurse may function as a charge nurse for the unit, overseeing shift operations, delegating tasks, and ensuring adherence to clinical protocols. The position involves provision of patient care and service to a diverse population, including older adolescents, young adults, adults, geriatric patients, and pediatric patients. The nurse will engage in ongoing learning and skill development through the residency program, participating in educational sessions, simulations, and mentorship opportunities to enhance clinical competence and professional growth. Key duties include performing physical assessments, administering medications, managing patient records, educating patients and families, and maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment. The nurse will also contribute to quality improvement initiatives and uphold standards of nursing practice as defined by the facility.

Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice. Graduation from an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN). BLS certification from the American Heart Association. Ability to provide care to patients across the lifespan, including older adolescents, young adults, adults, geriatric patients, and pediatric patients. Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills. Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with healthcare team members and supervision of support staff. Ability to function as a charge nurse when assigned. Commitment to professional development and completion of a nursing residency or internship program. Previous experience in a clinical setting preferred but not required.
