Job Summary
The Liability Claims Adjuster – Foodborne Illness & Product Liability is responsible for the investigation, evaluation, negotiation, and resolution of General Liability, Bodily Injury, and Product Liability claims within a dedicated national account program.
This unique role focuses on claims arising from foodborne illness, food contamination, product liability, and product recall events, requiring strong investigative skills, sound liability analysis, and exceptional customer service. The successful candidate will manage a high-volume inventory of approximately 200 claims while conducting liability and causation investigations, reviewing medical documentation, evaluating damages, establishing reserves, and resolving attorney-represented claims.
This position is ideal for experienced liability adjusters who enjoy detailed investigations, complex fact patterns, and specialized claim handling environments where every file presents a unique challenge.
Responsibilities

What You'll Do
Investigate, evaluate, and adjust General Liability, Bodily Injury, and Product Liability claims from assignment through resolution
Conduct liability and causation investigations involving foodborne illness and contamination allegations
Gather and analyze claim documentation, witness statements, incident reports, medical records, and supporting evidence
Review and evaluate coverage, liability, damages, and exposure
Establish and maintain accurate reserves based on claim development and exposure analysis
Negotiate settlements with claimants, attorneys, and authorized representatives
Manage attorney-represented and litigated files throughout the claim lifecycle
Coordinate with defense counsel, experts, consultants, and vendors as needed
Monitor and pursue subrogation opportunities when appropriate
Maintain timely diary management and claim documentation
Prepare claim reports, reserve recommendations, and client communications
Deliver responsive, professional service while maintaining compliance with Corporate Claim Standards and client-specific handling instructions
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Active Adjuster Licenseor Designated Home State (DHS) License required
Minimum 3 years of General Liability and Bodily Injury claims handling experience
Experience managing claims from investigation through final resolution
Strong liability investigation and causation analysis skills
Experience reviewing and evaluating medical records
Experience establishing reserves and negotiating settlements
Experience handling attorney-represented liability claims
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Effective diary management and organizational abilities
Ability to independently manage a high-volume inventory
Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
Reliable attendance during established business hours

Compensation & Compliance
The posted salary reflects CCMSI’s good-faith estimate in accordance with applicable pay transparency laws. Actual compensation will be based on qualifications, experience, geographic location, and internal equity. This role may also qualify for bonuses or additional forms of pay.
