Job Summary: Responsible for the cleanliness of all public areas, staff organization and the function of their particular assigned shift.
The Details: Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round
Pay: $17.20 per hour
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays) Why Grand Canyon South Rim?

Responsibilities The Lodging department is committed to creating a culture of guest service at Grand Canyon National Park.
All our roles in the lodging department, regardless of front or back of house, are considered guest facing/guest service positions.
Our expectation is that this role will play a key part in achieving exceptional guest service.
Ensure standard of cleanliness in public areas in adherence to company and departmental guidelines, including snow removal through inspection of all areas.
Assume full housekeeping duties, which occur after Housekeeping shift is over.
Assist in the training and development of all new porters.
Report to the Porter Manager and Assistant Porter Manager on the performance of the employees, and make recommendations on areas that need improvement.
Become familiar and adept with all areas of porter responsibility.
Ensure that employees meet the department standards for safety and effective use of all equipment.
Control keys, vehicle, master and room keys, and maintain security of all guest rooms in hallways and surrounding grounds.
Maintain productivity and quality in projects and minor repairs.
Remain available at all times while on duty.
Adhere to all safety and risk management policies, including wearing required personal protective equipment while performing tasks.
Use porter van for assigned duties only.
Never pick up passengers under any circumstances except on instructions from supervisor.
Distribute and/or transport all necessary equipment, supplies and/or employees.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Possessvalid Arizona Driver’s License and comply with the Xanterra South Rim Company Vehicle Policy.
Ability to properly use two-way radio communications.
Able to meet all physical requirements of the job, which include repetitive motion of all extremities and the back including continual kneeling, bending, twisting, lifting, pushing and long periods of standing/walking, and regularly lifting and transporting up to fifty pounds, etc. Ability to maintain high quality of work & high energy while take more than 15,000-20,000 steps per work day at an elevation of 7,000 ft.
Must have good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with and project the image of professionalism, friendliness and willingness to provide personalized service to our varied customer base.
Previous porter experience at Grand Canyon, and knowledge of layout of all hotel properties, housekeeping and laundry units, storage areas, and linen rooms.
Physical Requirementinclude: Frequently: Stand, walk, handle, bend, lift/carry up to 50lbs, push/pull up to 25lbs.
Occasionally: Sit, reach, climb, crawl, squat/kneel, lift/carry up to 100lbs, push/pull up to 100lbs.
