Apprentice Engineer

As an Apprentice Engineer, you will work under the supervision of experienced engineers to learn and perform a variety of technical tasks related to crane and lifting equipment maintenance, repair, and installation. Your primary responsibilities include: - Assisting in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of overhead cranes, hoists, and other lifting equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. - Learning to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults using diagnostic tools and technical manuals. - Supporting the installation and commissioning of new equipment at customer sites, including wiring, assembly, and testing. - Performing routine preventive maintenance tasks, such as lubricating moving parts, replacing worn components, and checking safety systems. - Documenting work completed, including parts used, time spent, and observations, in accordance with company procedures. - Adhering to all health and safety regulations, including working at heights and in confined spaces, and using personal protective equipment (PPE) as required. - Participating in on-the-job training and formal apprenticeship programs to develop technical skills and knowledge. - Communicating effectively with team members and customers to ensure clear understanding of work requirements and progress. - Maintaining tools and equipment in good working order, and ensuring work areas are clean and organized. - Traveling to various customer sites as needed, which may involve working outdoors or in industrial environments.

To be considered for this Apprentice Engineer position, candidates should meet the following qualifications: - A strong interest in engineering, mechanics, or electrical systems. - Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail. - Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces (a head for heights is essential). - Basic understanding of health and safety practices. - Willingness to learn and follow instructions. - Good communication and teamwork skills. - Physical fitness to perform manual tasks and lift heavy components. - No prior experience required, but any relevant vocational training or coursework is advantageous. - Must be able to travel to various customer sites as required. - Education: Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths, English, and a Science subject.
