As a Culinary Management Intern at Six Flags Great Adventure, you will gain hands-on experience in the fast-paced food and beverage operations of a major amusement park. Your primary responsibilities include assisting in the daily management of multiple food outlets, ensuring high-quality meal preparation and service, and contributing to a positive guest experience.
Key duties:
- Support the Food and Beverage management team in overseeing kitchen and front-of-house operations, including inventory management, food safety compliance, and staff scheduling.
- Participate in menu development and execution, working with chefs to create seasonal offerings that align with park themes and guest preferences.
- Monitor food quality and presentation standards, conducting regular inspections to ensure consistency across all locations.
- Assist in training and supervising hourly team members, fostering a culture of teamwork, safety, and exceptional service.
- Analyze sales data and guest feedback to identify opportunities for improvement in menu items, pricing, and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate with other departments (e.g., events, marketing) to support special promotions, group dining, and park-wide initiatives.
- Maintain accurate records of food costs, waste, and labor, contributing to budget management and cost control efforts.
- Uphold all health, safety, and sanitation regulations, including HACCP guidelines, and ensure compliance with company policies.
- Participate in weekly leadership meetings and complete assigned projects that enhance operational knowledge and professional development.
- Provide direct guest service as needed, resolving complaints and ensuring a memorable dining experience.

Qualifications and requirements:
- Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of a degree program in Culinary Arts, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
- Strong interest in food and beverage operations, with a desire to pursue a career in hospitality management.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Basic knowledge of food safety principles (ServSafe certification preferred but not required).
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and evenings, as required by park operations.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and willingness to learn point-of-sale and inventory systems.
- Previous experience in food service, retail, or customer service is a plus.
- Must be at least 18 years old and authorized to work in the United States.
