New Grad RN

As a New Grad RN in the Operating Room, you will be responsible for providing direct patient care and supporting surgical procedures. Your duties include assessing patient health status, developing and implementing nursing care plans, and monitoring patient responses to treatment. You will assist in preparing the operating room for surgeries, ensuring all equipment is sterile and functioning properly. During procedures, you will collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare team members to maintain a safe and efficient environment. Post-operatively, you will monitor patients in recovery, manage pain, and provide education on wound care and follow-up instructions. You will also document all nursing interventions and patient outcomes accurately in electronic health records. Additionally, you will participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to infection control protocols to enhance patient safety. This role requires effective communication, critical thinking, and the ability to work in a fast-paced setting. You will support the surgical team by anticipating needs, handling instruments, and maintaining aseptic technique. You will also assist with patient transport, positioning, and preparation for surgery. Your responsibilities extend to managing surgical supplies, inventory, and equipment maintenance. You will engage in continuous learning through orientation, preceptorship, and ongoing education programs to develop your skills as a perioperative nurse. You will also contribute to a culture of teamwork and respect, ensuring that patient care is delivered with compassion and professionalism.

To be considered for this role, you must have a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Kentucky or a compact state license. You must have graduated from an accredited nursing program, either an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). New graduate nurses are welcome, but previous clinical experience in a surgical or acute care setting is preferred. You must possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred. Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills are required. You must be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, and handle physical demands such as standing for long periods and lifting up to 50 pounds. You should demonstrate a commitment to patient safety, infection control, and evidence-based practice.
