Safety Program Assistant Internship (GURNEE)

The Safety Program Assistant Intern supports the Safety Manager in maintaining safety programs and conducting inspections to ensure a safe environment for guests and team members in an amusement park setting. This seasonal position is available from May through August, typically working 35-40 hours per week, including weekends and holidays. Key responsibilities include: - Assisting with the implementation and maintenance of safety programs and policies. - Conducting regular safety inspections of park facilities, rides, and equipment to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards. - Documenting inspection findings and maintaining accurate records of safety-related activities. - Supporting incident investigations by gathering information and preparing reports. - Assisting in the development and delivery of safety training materials for team members. - Responding to safety concerns from guests and staff, addressing issues promptly and professionally. - Collaborating with the Safety Manager to update safety protocols and procedures as needed. - Participating in safety meetings and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. - Monitoring compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations. - Performing other duties as assigned to support the overall safety program.

Qualifications and requirements: - Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field. - Strong attention to detail and observational skills. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Basic knowledge of safety principles and practices is preferred. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). - Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays. - Must be at least 18 years of age. - Previous experience in a safety role or amusement park setting is a plus.
