Operations Apprentice

As an Operations Apprentice at Speedy, you will play a vital role in the daily functioning of the depot, developing a broad range of skills across multiple departments. Your primary responsibilities will include working hands-on with equipment, ensuring it is tested and safe before being hired out to customers. You will assist in the preparation, maintenance, and inspection of tools, specialist hire equipment, plant, and support services. This involves checking equipment for faults, cleaning and servicing items, and performing basic repairs under supervision. You will also support the depot team in managing stock levels, organizing inventory, and ensuring equipment is stored correctly and ready for dispatch. Additionally, you will help with customer service tasks, such as processing hire orders, handling returns, and providing assistance to customers on site. You will work closely with experienced staff to learn about depot operations, including health and safety procedures, equipment handling, and administrative tasks related to hire transactions. The role requires flexibility to move between different areas of the depot as needed, contributing to overall efficiency and customer satisfaction. You will also participate in training and development activities to build your knowledge of the hire industry and operational processes.

No prior experience is required, as full training will be provided. However, you should have a strong willingness to learn and develop practical skills. You must be reliable, punctual, and able to work as part of a team. Good communication skills are essential for interacting with customers and colleagues. You should be comfortable with manual work and able to follow health and safety guidelines. Basic numeracy and literacy skills are needed for handling paperwork and stock records. A positive attitude and a proactive approach to tasks are important. You must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities. A full driving license may be beneficial but is not essential. You should be committed to completing the apprenticeship program and developing a career in the hire industry.
