The apprenticeship involves comprehensive training in all aspects of locksmithing over a 3-4 year period. Key responsibilities include:
Automotive locksmithing: Performing lockouts, fitting keys, conducting repairs, and working with electronic transponder systems.
General locksmithing tasks: Learning and applying techniques for residential, commercial, and automotive security systems.
Attending TAFE block release sessions: Participating in structured training at the Heidelberg campus in Melbourne VIC, approximately 4 times per year, each lasting 2 weeks.
