CHILD AND YOUTH PROGRAM ASSISTANT (ENTRY LEVEL)

As a Child and Youth Program Assistant (Entry Level), you will support the daily operations of child and youth programs at the Luke Child Development Center (CDC). Your primary responsibilities include assisting in the implementation of developmentally appropriate activities for children and youth, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment, and promoting positive social, emotional, and cognitive growth. You will work under the guidance of senior staff to supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, including playtime, meals, and rest periods. You will help maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free environment by following health and safety protocols. Additionally, you will assist in preparing and serving snacks and meals, and support children with personal care tasks such as diapering, toileting, and handwashing. You will engage children in educational and recreational activities, including arts and crafts, story time, music, and physical play, tailored to their age group. You will also observe and report any behavioral or developmental concerns to supervisors, and participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance program quality. This role requires flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and needs of the program, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive atmosphere for all children and families.

To qualify for this entry-level position, you must meet the following requirements: Be a high school graduate or equivalent (diploma or equivalent required for verification). No previous experience is required for the Entry Level. However, for higher levels (Intermediate or Target), additional experience and credentials are necessary. For the Intermediate Level: Six months of experience equivalent to the CY-01 Entry Level working in a group program for children or youth, plus completion of 3 Air Force modules (or equivalent) and the AF Orientation Training Program. For the Target Level: 18 months of experience working in any childcare or youth program, plus completion of DoD approved competency-training courses and one of the following: a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, military school age credential, or other nationally recognized youth development credential directly related to the assigned age group; OR an associate degree with 24 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, youth development, human development, elementary education, special education, secondary education, youth program administration, recreation, or physical education; OR a bachelor's degree or 120 semester hours with 24 credit hours in the same fields. All levels require the ability to obtain and maintain required certifications and clearances as specified by the program.

This is a Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) position at the Luke Youth Center, part of the Department of the Air Force Child and Youth Programs, providing child care services.
