Consumer Lending Internship

As a Consumer Lending Intern, you will support the lending team in processing and managing consumer loan applications. Your primary responsibilities include assisting with loan origination, reviewing application documents, and ensuring compliance with credit union policies. You will work closely with loan officers to gather necessary information from applicants, verify income and employment details, and input data into the lending system. Additionally, you will help maintain accurate records of loan files, track application statuses, and communicate with members regarding their loan inquiries. You will also participate in team meetings to discuss loan performance and contribute to process improvement initiatives. This role provides hands-on experience in consumer lending operations, including understanding credit analysis, loan documentation, and member service. You will learn to use lending software and tools to streamline workflows and support the team in achieving lending goals. The internship offers exposure to various lending products such as personal loans, auto loans, and credit cards, and you will assist in preparing reports on loan activity and trends. You will also help with administrative tasks such as filing, scanning, and organizing documents to ensure efficient office operations. This position is ideal for individuals interested in building a career in banking or finance, offering practical skills in loan processing, customer interaction, and regulatory compliance.

Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in finance, business administration, economics, or a related field. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Basic understanding of financial concepts and lending principles is preferred. Prior internship or work experience in a financial services environment is a plus. Must be able to work up to 15 hours per week during standard business hours.
