岗位职责

The Clinical Psychologist (PTSD) is responsible for providing comprehensive psychological services to patients with post-traumatic stress disorder. Key responsibilities include conducting diagnostic assessments, developing and implementing evidence-based treatment plans, and delivering individual and group psychotherapy using modalities such as cognitive behavioral therapy, prolonged exposure therapy, and cognitive processing therapy. The psychologist will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care, participate in treatment planning meetings, and provide consultation to other healthcare professionals regarding PTSD management. Additional duties involve performing psychological evaluations, including structured clinical interviews and standardized assessments, to inform diagnosis and treatment. The psychologist will maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory standards, contribute to quality improvement initiatives, and engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in trauma-focused care. The role also includes supervising psychology trainees and interns, providing clinical guidance and feedback to support their professional growth. The psychologist will adhere to ethical guidelines and institutional policies, ensuring patient safety and confidentiality at all times.

Candidates must meet the following qualifications: (1) United States citizenship; non-citizens may be appointed only when qualified citizens cannot be recruited. (2) Proficiency in written and spoken English as required by VA policy. (3) A doctoral degree in psychology from a program accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS), or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) at the time of completion, with a specialty consistent with the assignment. Alternatively, a doctoral degree in any psychology area plus completion of an APA- or CPA-accredited re-specialization program in a relevant specialty, or a doctoral degree awarded between 1951 and 1978 from a regionally-accredited institution with a dissertation primarily psychological in nature. (4) Successful completion of a professional psychology internship accredited by APA or CPA at the time of completion, consistent with the assignment. Exceptions include: new VHA internship programs seeking APA accreditation and sanctioned by VHA Central Office; pre-1979 VHA internships; or completion of a non-accredited internship with current board certification by the American Board of Professional Psychology in a relevant specialty (board certification must be maintained). Applicants with a 1951-1978 doctoral degree may fulfill the internship requirement with equivalent supervised experience, verified by the doctoral program. Applicants pending completion of educational or licensure requirements may be referred but cannot be hired until all requirements are met.
