Nursery Apprenticeship

As a Nursery Apprentice in Hackney, you will work under the guidance of experienced Early Years professionals to support the daily care and development of children aged 0-5. Your primary responsibilities include assisting with planned activities that promote learning through play, such as arts and crafts, story time, and sensory play. You will help maintain a safe, clean, and stimulating environment by setting up and tidying play areas, ensuring equipment is in good condition, and following health and safety protocols. You will support children's personal care routines, including nappy changing, toileting, hand washing, and meal times, while encouraging independence and good hygiene habits. You will observe and record children's progress, contributing to their learning journals and sharing insights with senior staff. You will also engage with parents and carers during drop-off and pick-up times, providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Additionally, you will participate in team meetings and training sessions to build your knowledge of child development, safeguarding, and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. This role offers hands-on experience in a supportive setting, allowing you to develop practical skills in childcare, communication, and teamwork.

No formal childcare experience is required, but you must be enthusiastic, caring, and eager to learn. You should have a genuine interest in working with young children and a commitment to completing the apprenticeship program. Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team are essential. You must be reliable, patient, and able to follow instructions. A basic understanding of child development or early years education is beneficial but not mandatory. You will need to undergo a background check (DBS) and be willing to study towards a recognized childcare qualification as part of the apprenticeship.
