Apprentice Buyer

As an Apprentice Buyer, you will support the procurement team in sourcing and purchasing materials, equipment, and services for construction projects. Your responsibilities include: - Assisting with the preparation and processing of purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery. - Conducting market research to identify potential suppliers and evaluate their capabilities, pricing, and quality. - Maintaining supplier relationships and communicating with vendors to resolve issues related to orders, deliveries, or invoices. - Collaborating with project managers and site teams to understand material requirements and specifications. - Monitoring inventory levels and coordinating with warehouse staff to ensure stock availability. - Supporting the negotiation of contracts and terms with suppliers under the guidance of senior buyers. - Updating procurement databases and records, ensuring all documentation is accurate and compliant with company policies. - Participating in team meetings and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives in procurement processes. - Learning about supply chain management, cost control, and sustainability practices within the construction industry. - Assisting in the evaluation of supplier performance and reporting on key metrics.

To be successful in this role, you should have: - Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail. - Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. - Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook). - A willingness to learn and develop skills in procurement and supply chain management. - Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. - No prior experience required, but an interest in construction or procurement is beneficial. - Minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, including English and Maths.
