As an Apprentice HGV Technician, you will work alongside experienced technicians to learn the skills required to maintain and repair heavy goods vehicles. Your responsibilities will include assisting with routine inspections, servicing, and diagnostic tasks on a fleet of commercial vehicles. You will learn to perform preventive maintenance such as oil changes, tire checks, and brake adjustments under supervision. You will also support the team in identifying and resolving mechanical and electrical faults, using diagnostic equipment and technical manuals. Additionally, you will help maintain a clean and safe workshop environment, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly stored and accounted for. You will be expected to follow health and safety regulations at all times, including the correct use of personal protective equipment. As you progress, you will take on more complex tasks, such as engine overhauls, transmission repairs, and electrical system troubleshooting. You will also document all work completed, including parts used and time spent, to maintain accurate service records. This apprenticeship provides hands-on experience in a fast-paced logistics environment, with opportunities to develop expertise in vehicle maintenance and repair.
