Surgical Tech Internship

As a Surgical Tech Intern, you will work under the close supervision of experienced surgical technologists and licensed perioperative staff to gain hands-on experience in the operating room environment. Your responsibilities include: - Preparing operating rooms for surgical procedures by gathering, opening, and organizing sterile supplies and equipment. - Assisting with the setup and maintenance of sterile fields during surgeries. - Handling and passing instruments to surgeons and surgical team members as directed. - Ensuring proper handling and disposal of surgical instruments and materials according to infection control protocols. - Supporting the surgical team by anticipating needs and maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient work environment. - Participating in patient positioning and preparation under supervision. - Observing and learning surgical techniques, aseptic practices, and perioperative procedures. - Assisting with inventory management and restocking of surgical supplies. - Documenting and reporting any issues or discrepancies in the operating room setup. - Collaborating with nursing and surgical staff to ensure smooth workflow during procedures. - Adhering to all hospital policies, safety standards, and confidentiality requirements. - Engaging in educational sessions and training to enhance knowledge of surgical technology and patient care.

To be considered for this internship, you must meet the following qualifications: - Currently enrolled in an accredited Surgical Technology program or a related healthcare field. - Basic understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and surgical procedures. - Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely. - Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. - Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds. - Effective communication and teamwork skills. - Commitment to maintaining sterile technique and infection control standards. - CPR certification (or willingness to obtain prior to start). - No prior surgical tech experience required; training will be provided.
