Capacity Building Fellow Graduate Internship

The Capacity Building Fellow will support Chicago Jobs Council’s (CJC) efforts to strengthen workforce development organizations and systems. This role focuses on enhancing the capacity of community-based organizations, employers, and public agencies to better serve jobseekers. The fellow will work closely with CJC’s capacity building team to design and deliver technical assistance, training, and resources. Key responsibilities include: - Conducting research on best practices in workforce development, including topics such as equitable hiring, career pathways, and supportive services. - Developing and updating toolkits, guides, and other resources for workforce development practitioners. - Assisting in the planning and facilitation of workshops, webinars, and peer learning cohorts for partner organizations. - Supporting the design and implementation of capacity building assessments and evaluations to measure organizational readiness and impact. - Collaborating with CJC staff to identify emerging needs in the workforce development field and propose responsive capacity building initiatives. - Contributing to written reports, policy briefs, and presentations that translate research findings into actionable recommendations. - Participating in team meetings, stakeholder convenings, and community events to represent CJC and build relationships with partners. - Providing administrative support for capacity building projects, including scheduling, data entry, and communication with partners. The fellow will gain hands-on experience in workforce development policy and practice, develop skills in technical assistance and adult learning, and contribute to systemic change efforts that center jobseekers.

- Current enrollment in or recent completion of a graduate program in social work, public policy, urban planning, education, or a related field. - Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information into clear, accessible formats. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Experience or interest in workforce development, economic justice, or community organizing. - Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and familiarity with virtual collaboration tools (e.g., Zoom, Google Workspace). - Commitment to racial and economic equity and centering the voices of jobseekers. - Previous experience in capacity building, training, or program development is a plus but not required.
