Optical Assistant Apprentice

As an Optical Assistant Apprentice, you will be the first point of contact for customers, ensuring they receive exceptional service from the moment they enter the store. Your primary responsibilities include greeting customers, understanding their needs, and guiding them through the selection of eyewear. You will assist customers in choosing frames and lenses, providing advice on style, fit, and functionality. Additionally, you will manage appointments, handle inquiries, and process transactions accurately. You will work closely with the optical team to maintain a clean and organized store environment, ensuring that displays are attractive and stock levels are adequate. You will also support the team in administrative tasks such as updating customer records and managing inventory. Through this apprenticeship, you will learn the fundamentals of optics, including how to measure and fit glasses, understand lens prescriptions, and use optical equipment. You will develop skills in customer service, sales, and teamwork, all while working towards a recognized qualification. No prior experience in optics is required, as full training will be provided. However, you should have a strong interest in retail and customer service. You must be a proactive and personable individual with excellent communication skills. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and be willing to learn new skills. A basic understanding of mathematics and English is necessary for handling transactions and customer interactions. You must be at least 16 years old and have the right to work in the UK.
