Child and Youth Program Assistant CY-01/02

The Child and Youth Program Assistant supports the operation of Child and Youth Services (CYS) facilities at Rock Island Arsenal. Responsibilities include supervising and engaging children and youth in age-appropriate activities, ensuring a safe and nurturing environment, and assisting with program implementation. Duties involve monitoring children during indoor and outdoor play, leading recreational and educational activities, and maintaining cleanliness and organization of the facility. The assistant helps with meal and snack times, follows health and safety protocols, and reports any concerns to supervisors. Additionally, the role includes interacting positively with children, youth, and families, and supporting the overall mission of the CYS program. Work schedules are flexible, with hours varying from 0 to 40 per week based on program needs.

For Entry Level (CY-01): Must be at least 18 years of age. Hold a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. For higher paying levels (Skill Level CY-01 and Target Level CY-02): Refer to the Applicant Information Kit for specific qualification requirements. College transcripts or certificates may be required at the time of application for those seeking Skill or Target level consideration.
