As a Child and Youth Program Assistant, you will support the development and care of children and youth in a structured program environment. Your responsibilities will include implementing age-appropriate activities that promote physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development. You will supervise children and youth during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times. You will assist in planning and executing educational and recreational programs, including arts and crafts, sports, games, and group activities. You will maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment by following health and safety regulations. You will observe and report any behavioral or developmental concerns to supervisors. You will communicate effectively with parents and guardians about daily activities and child progress. You will support the program's daily operations, including setting up and cleaning activity areas, managing supplies, and maintaining records. You will work collaboratively with other staff to create a positive and inclusive atmosphere. You will adapt activities to meet the needs of children with diverse backgrounds and abilities. You will participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance your skills. You will ensure compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) standards and program policies. You will assist in meal and snack times, ensuring proper nutrition and hygiene practices. You will help with transitions between activities and maintain a consistent routine. You will provide guidance and support to children and youth in developing social skills and conflict resolution. You will contribute to a safe and nurturing environment that fosters learning and growth.

All levels require a high school diploma or equivalent, with proof provided. For the Target Level: 18 months of experience in a childcare or youth program, plus completion of DoD-approved competency training courses. Additionally, you must possess and maintain one of the following directly related to the assigned age group: Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, Military School Age credential, or other nationally recognized youth development credential. Alternatively, 18 months of experience plus an associate degree with at least 24 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, youth development, human development, elementary education, special education, secondary education, youth program administration, recreation, or physical education. Or a bachelor's degree or 120 semester hours with at least 24 credit hours in the same fields. For the Intermediate Level: Six months of experience equivalent to the CY-01 Entry Level in a group program for children or youth, plus completion of 3 AF modules (or equivalent) and AF Orientation Training Program. For the Entry Level: No previous experience required.
