岗位职责

The Child and Youth Program Assistant supports the School Age Center at Eielson AFB, Alaska, by providing direct care and supervision to children and youth in a structured, safe, and engaging environment. Responsibilities include implementing developmentally appropriate activities that promote physical, social, emotional, and cognitive growth. The assistant will guide children in daily routines, including indoor and outdoor play, meal times, and rest periods, while ensuring compliance with safety and health regulations. They will interact positively with children, model appropriate behavior, and foster a supportive atmosphere. Additionally, the assistant will assist with program planning, maintain cleanliness and organization of the facility, and communicate effectively with parents and team members. The role requires flexibility to work varying hours between 6:00 AM and 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with occasional weekends. The position is flexible with no guaranteed hours, ranging from 0 to 40 hours per week.

All levels require a high school diploma or equivalent, with proof of education (diploma or transcript) required at application. Candidates must be at least 18 years of age. Experience operating vehicles with a GVW up to 10,000 pounds (e.g., pickup trucks, vans) is required, and defensive driving skills are desired. For the Target Level (CY-02): 18 months of experience in a childcare or youth program, plus one of the following: completion of DoD-approved competency-training courses; a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, Military School Age Credential, or nationally recognized youth development credential; an associate degree with 24 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, or related field; or a bachelor's degree with 24 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, youth development, human development, elementary education, special education, secondary education, youth program administration, recreation, or physical education. For the Intermediate Level (CY-01): six months of experience equivalent to the Entry Level in a group program for children or youth, plus completion of three AF modules (or equivalent) and AF Orientation Training. For the Entry Level (CY-01): no previous experience required.
