IT Engineer Apprentice

As an IT Engineer Apprentice, you will work within a hybrid role, gaining exposure to various elements of the company, including field-based and office-based responsibilities. Your primary duties will involve providing IT support to a wide range of customers across different vertical markets in Scotland and the UK. You will assist in maintaining and troubleshooting IT systems, primarily working with the Microsoft stack. Key responsibilities include: - Providing first-line and second-line technical support to clients, resolving hardware, software, and network issues. - Assisting with the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of IT infrastructure, including servers, workstations, and networking equipment. - Supporting the implementation and management of Microsoft technologies, such as Windows Server, Office 365, and Azure. - Participating in on-site visits to customer locations for installations, upgrades, and troubleshooting. - Collaborating with the IT support team to document processes, solutions, and system configurations. - Monitoring system performance and security, ensuring compliance with company and client policies. - Assisting with backup and disaster recovery procedures. - Engaging in continuous learning and development to enhance technical skills and knowledge. - Contributing to team projects and initiatives to improve service delivery and customer satisfaction. To be successful in this role, you should have: - A strong interest in IT and technology, with a willingness to learn and develop technical skills. - Basic understanding of computer systems, networks, and Microsoft technologies (e.g., Windows OS, Office 365). - Good problem-solving and analytical abilities. - Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with customers and team members. - Ability to work both independently and as part of a team. - A proactive and customer-focused attitude. - Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed (field-based work). - No prior professional experience required, but any relevant coursework, certifications, or personal projects in IT are advantageous. - Education: High school diploma or equivalent; pursuing or willing to pursue an IT apprenticeship program.
