HGV Apprentice

As an HGV Apprentice, you will undergo a fully paid training programme designed to equip you with the skills and qualifications needed for a career in heavy goods vehicle driving. The role involves a mix of daytime and night time training, transitioning to primarily night time driving once qualified. Your responsibilities will include: - Completing a fixed-term 8-month training programme to achieve the National Logistics Academy 'HGV Urban Driver Level 2' qualification. - Learning to operate heavy goods vehicles safely and efficiently under supervision during both day and night shifts. - After qualification, undertaking night driving duties, transporting goods as required by the employer. - Working 45 hours per week during training, increasing to 48 hours per week after obtaining your Category C licence. - Adhering to all road safety regulations, company policies, and legal requirements for HGV operation. - Maintaining vehicle cleanliness and performing basic pre-trip inspections to ensure roadworthiness. - Communicating effectively with dispatch and logistics teams to coordinate deliveries and schedules. This role is based at Cotteswold Dairy in Shropshire and offers a structured pathway to becoming a qualified HGV driver.

To be considered for this HGV Apprentice position, you must meet the following qualifications and requirements: - Hold a full UK manual car driving licence. - Be over 18 years of age. - Demonstrate a commitment to completing the 8-month fixed-term training programme. - Possess a willingness to work a mix of daytime and night time hours, with night driving required after qualification. - Have no disqualifying criminal convictions or medical conditions that would prevent obtaining a Category C licence. - Be able to work 45 hours per week initially, increasing to 48 hours per week after licence achievement. - Strong attention to detail and a focus on safety. - Good communication skills and ability to work independently. - Previous driving experience is beneficial but not required, as full training is provided.
