Dietician Internship

The Nephrology Dietitian Intern will support the nutritional health of patients by utilizing nutrition expertise and clinical knowledge to educate patients on best choices for health and wellness when living with kidney disease. This role focuses on enhancing health, well-being, and quality of life through personalized dietary guidance. Key responsibilities include assessing the nutritional needs of each patient, engaging patients and their families or caregivers in establishing individualized nutrition care plans, and monitoring patient progress. The intern will collaborate with healthcare teams to integrate nutrition strategies into overall patient care, provide education on kidney-friendly diets, and adjust plans based on medical and laboratory data. Additionally, the intern will document patient interactions and outcomes in accordance with clinical standards, participate in quality improvement initiatives, and stay updated on evidence-based practices in nephrology nutrition.

Currently enrolled in or recently completed a dietetics program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND). Strong knowledge of medical nutrition therapy, particularly in renal disease. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for patient education and team collaboration. Ability to assess and interpret clinical data. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. Basic proficiency in electronic health records. Commitment to patient-centered care and ethical practice.
