Medical Assistant (CFHC) – Unpaid Internship

This unpaid internship is designed for students currently enrolled in a Clinical Medical Assistant program. The intern will support clinical operations by assisting healthcare providers with patient care and administrative tasks. Responsibilities include preparing examination rooms, taking patient vital signs, updating medical records, and ensuring a clean and organized clinical environment. The intern will also assist with patient intake processes, including verifying patient information and documenting medical histories. Additionally, the intern may help with scheduling appointments, managing phone calls, and coordinating referrals under the supervision of licensed medical staff. The role provides hands-on experience in a behavioral and primary health care setting, focusing on integrated care delivery. The intern will learn to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, nurses, and behavioral health specialists, to support patient-centered care. Duties also involve maintaining inventory of medical supplies, sterilizing equipment, and adhering to infection control protocols. The intern will gain exposure to electronic health records systems and compliance with healthcare regulations. This position offers practical training in clinical procedures, patient communication, and workflow management within a community health environment.

Current enrollment in a Clinical Medical Assistant program. Basic understanding of medical terminology and clinical procedures. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members. Proficiency in using computers and electronic health records systems is preferred. Must be able to work part-time hours as scheduled. No prior work experience required, but a commitment to learning and professional development is essential.
