Registered Nurse Residency - Nursing Internship - St. Frances Cabrini

As a Registered Nurse in the Nursing Internship program at St. Frances Cabrini, you will be responsible for comprehensive patient assessment, care planning, and delivering high-quality nursing care to an assigned group of patients during a defined work period. Your duties include providing direction and supervision to Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN/LPNs), nursing assistants, unit secretaries, and other clinical or clerical associates. You may also function as a charge nurse for the unit as assigned. This role involves caring for patients across various age groups, including older adolescents, young adults, adults, geriatric patients, and pediatric patients. Key responsibilities encompass conducting thorough patient assessments to identify health needs, developing and implementing individualized care plans, administering medications and treatments as prescribed, monitoring patient progress and adjusting care accordingly, and collaborating with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. You will also educate patients and their families on health conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions. Additionally, you will maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care, adhere to infection control and safety protocols, and participate in quality improvement initiatives. The internship provides structured learning experiences to enhance clinical skills and professional development, with mentorship from experienced nursing staff.

To be considered for this position, you must have a current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is preferred, but an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) may be accepted. You must have completed a nursing internship or residency program, or be willing to participate in the structured internship program. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required. Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills are essential. Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities are necessary for effective collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare team members. You should demonstrate proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems. Prior experience in an acute care setting is preferred but not required. You must be able to work flexible shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed. Physical stamina to stand, walk, and lift patients is required.
