Quality Engineering Internship at Superior Metals Manufacturing - CPP - Summer

As a Quality Engineering Intern at Superior Metals Manufacturing - CPP, you will gain hands-on experience in quality systems and process improvement within a manufacturing environment. Your primary responsibilities will include: - Assisting in the development, implementation, and maintenance of quality systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer requirements. - Conducting root cause analysis and corrective action investigations to address quality issues and prevent recurrence. - Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and supply chain, to identify opportunities for process optimization and waste reduction. - Performing data collection, analysis, and reporting on key quality metrics, such as defect rates, yield, and customer complaints. - Supporting internal and external audits by preparing documentation, tracking findings, and verifying corrective actions. - Participating in continuous improvement projects using methodologies such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen. - Reviewing and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions to reflect best practices. - Assisting with supplier quality management, including evaluating supplier performance and conducting incoming material inspections. - Contributing to the development of training materials and delivering training to operators on quality standards and procedures. - Engaging in daily production meetings to provide quality insights and support real-time problem solving. This internship offers a comprehensive learning experience in quality engineering, with exposure to various aspects of manufacturing operations. You will work closely with experienced engineers and managers to drive quality improvements and ensure product excellence.

To be considered for this internship, you must meet the following qualifications: - Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail. - Basic understanding of quality systems, such as ISO 9001 or AS9100, is preferred. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate across departments. - Prior internship or project experience in manufacturing or quality is a plus. - Must be available to work full-time (40 hours per week) on-site in Chittenango, NY from May to August 2026.
