Psychologist (Assistant Chief) - Mental Health

The Assistant Chief Psychologist provides clinical and administrative leadership within the Mental Health service line. This role involves overseeing the daily operations of psychological services, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care to patients. Key responsibilities include supervising and mentoring a team of psychologists, interns, and other mental health professionals; developing and implementing clinical policies and procedures; and coordinating with other departments to integrate mental health services across the facility. The Assistant Chief also participates in strategic planning, quality improvement initiatives, and program evaluation to enhance patient outcomes and operational efficiency. Additionally, this position involves direct patient care, including conducting comprehensive psychological assessments, providing individual and group psychotherapy, and managing complex cases. The role requires active involvement in training programs, including supervising psychology interns and residents, and contributing to the professional development of staff. The Assistant Chief Psychologist serves as a consultant to other healthcare providers on psychological matters and may represent the mental health service at hospital-wide committees and meetings. This position demands strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills to foster a collaborative and supportive work environment.

Must be a U.S. citizen. Hold a doctoral degree in psychology from an APA, PCSAS, or CPA accredited program, with a specialty area consistent with the assignment (excluding school psychology). Alternatively, a doctoral degree in any area of psychology with completion of an APA or CPA accredited re-specialization program, or a doctoral degree awarded between 1951 and 1978 from a regionally-accredited institution with a psychological dissertation. Must have completed an APA or CPA accredited professional psychology internship, or meet alternative internship requirements (e.g., board certification by ABPP in a relevant specialty). Hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia. Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role within a mental health setting is preferred.
