岗位职责

The Staff Psychologist (BHIP) will provide comprehensive psychological services within the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP). Key responsibilities include conducting psychological assessments, diagnosing mental health conditions, and delivering evidence-based psychotherapies to a diverse patient population, with a focus on veterans. The psychologist will develop and implement individualized treatment plans, utilizing a range of therapeutic modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and trauma-focused interventions. They will perform crisis intervention and risk management assessments, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care. The role involves providing consultation to other healthcare providers on psychological issues, participating in treatment team meetings, and contributing to program development and quality improvement initiatives. The psychologist will maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with professional standards and facility policies. They will also engage in supervision and training of psychology trainees and other staff as needed. Additionally, the psychologist will participate in outreach activities to promote mental health services within the veteran community. The position requires adherence to ethical guidelines and VA regulations, with a commitment to delivering patient-centered care in a supportive and recovery-oriented environment.

Qualifications include a doctoral degree in psychology from an APA, PCSAS, or CPA accredited program, or a re-specialization program meeting specific criteria. Completion of an APA or CPA accredited professional psychology internship is required, with exceptions for board certification or pre-1979 internships. Candidates must hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia. Non-licensed applicants may be appointed temporarily for up to two years under supervision. Preferred experience includes crisis intervention and risk management, working with interdisciplinary teams, evidence-based therapies, and experience with the veteran population. U.S. citizenship and English language proficiency are required. Physical requirements per VA Directive and Handbook 5019 must be met.
