岗位职责
The Staff Psychologist - Geropsychologist will provide a full range of psychological assessment, diagnostic, and therapeutic services to older adult patients. Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive psychological evaluations, including cognitive, personality, and behavioral assessments, and developing individualized treatment plans. The psychologist will implement evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, interpersonal therapy, and other modalities appropriate for geriatric populations. They will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians, nurses, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, to coordinate patient care and address complex medical and psychological needs. The role involves providing consultation to other staff on geriatric mental health issues, including dementia, depression, anxiety, and adjustment disorders. The psychologist will also participate in program development and quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing mental health services for older adults. They may supervise psychology trainees, including interns and practicum students, and contribute to training programs. Documentation of clinical activities in electronic health records in a timely and accurate manner is required. The psychologist will stay current with best practices in geropsychology and may engage in research or scholarly activities as appropriate.

Must be a U.S. citizen. Must be proficient in spoken and written English. Must hold a doctoral degree in psychology from an APA, PCSAS, or CPA accredited program, with a specialty area consistent with the assignment (clinical, counseling, or clinical neuropsychology; school psychology not eligible). Alternatively, a doctoral degree in any area of psychology with completion of an APA or CPA accredited re-specialization program in an appropriate specialty, or a doctoral degree awarded between 1951 and 1978 from a regionally-accredited institution with a psychological dissertation. Must have completed a professional psychology internship accredited by APA or CPA at the time of completion, or meet alternative internship requirements (e.g., VHA-sanctioned program, pre-1979 VHA internship, or board certification by ABPP in a relevant specialty). Must hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a U.S. state, territory, commonwealth, or the District of Columbia. Non-licensed applicants may be appointed temporarily as a graduate psychologist for up to two years under supervision. For GS-11: no experience beyond basic requirements. For GS-12: at least one year of experience as a professional psychologist equivalent to GS-11. For GS-13: at least two years of experience as a professional psychologist, with at least one year equivalent to GS-12. Experience must demonstrate knowledge of geriatric mental health, including assessment and treatment of older adults.
