Staff Psychologist - Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) - EDRP Authorized

The Staff Psychologist in the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) provides comprehensive psychological services to a diverse patient population within a multidisciplinary team setting. Responsibilities include conducting psychological assessments, diagnosing mental health conditions, and delivering evidence-based psychotherapeutic interventions. The psychologist collaborates with BHIP team members to develop and implement individualized treatment plans, ensuring continuity of care across the program. Duties also involve crisis intervention, risk assessment, and coordination with other healthcare providers to address complex patient needs. The psychologist participates in program evaluation and quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development of clinical protocols and best practices. Additionally, the role includes providing consultation to other staff on psychological issues, supervising psychology trainees as assigned, and engaging in research activities such as designing and executing clinical research projects. The psychologist maintains accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory standards and participates in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and treatment adjustments.

Candidates must hold a doctoral degree in psychology from an APA, PCSAS, or CPA accredited program, with the specialty area consistent with the assignment. Alternatively, a doctoral degree in any psychology area with completion of an APA or CPA accredited re-specialization program, or a doctoral degree awarded between 1951 and 1978 from a regionally-accredited institution with a dissertation primarily psychological in nature, is acceptable. Completion of an APA or CPA accredited professional psychology internship is required; exceptions apply for board-certified psychologists or those with equivalent supervised internship experience. Candidates must possess a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a U.S. state, territory, or the District of Columbia. Non-licensed applicants may receive a temporary appointment as a graduate psychologist for up to two years under supervision. For GS-12 level, at least one year of experience as a professional psychologist equivalent to GS-11 is required, along with demonstrated knowledge of psychological treatments and assessment methods, ability to design treatment strategies, incorporate new clinical procedures, conduct research, and perform basic research tasks. U.S. citizenship and English language proficiency are required.
