The Family Court Operations Intern will support the daily operations of the District of Columbia Courts' Family Court division. Responsibilities include assisting court staff with case management, document processing, and administrative tasks. The intern will observe court proceedings, prepare case summaries, and help maintain accurate records. They will interact with court personnel, legal professionals, and self-represented litigants, providing information and guidance on court procedures. The intern may also assist with special projects, such as data collection, research on family law issues, and outreach initiatives. This role requires professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality. The intern will contribute to the court's mission by ensuring efficient and fair resolution of family-related disputes, including custody, visitation, and support cases. They will work under the supervision of experienced court staff and gain practical insight into the judicial system. The position demands strong organizational skills, effective communication, and a commitment to serving a diverse community. Interns will be expected to commit a minimum of 10 hours per week and track ABA credit hour requirements if applicable.

Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or authorized by United States Citizenship and Immigration Service to intern in the U.S. Must be at least 18 years old. This internship is for undergraduate, graduate, and law students, or spring 2026 law school graduates. Preference given to students with majors in Political Science, Social Work, Sociology, Family Law, Communication Studies, Public Administration, Psychology, or Liberal Arts. Law students must be enrolled in an accredited law school program. Ability to commit a minimum of 10 hours per week. Authorization for release of adult criminal record and successful completion of a criminal history records check required. Enthusiastic and engaged professional who enjoys working with a diverse group of court personnel and customers.
