Staff Psychologist (STEPPED CARE)

The Staff Psychologist (Stepped Care) will provide a full range of psychological assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and intervention services within a stepped care model. Responsibilities include conducting comprehensive psychological evaluations, developing and implementing evidence-based treatment plans, and providing individual, group, and family psychotherapy. The psychologist will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated patient care, including consultation with primary care providers, psychiatrists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals. Duties also involve crisis intervention, risk assessment, and management of acute psychological distress. The psychologist will participate in program development and quality improvement initiatives to enhance the stepped care approach, ensuring appropriate levels of care based on patient needs. Additional responsibilities include maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with VA policies, supervising psychology trainees and interns as assigned, and engaging in ongoing professional development and training. The psychologist will contribute to research activities and evidence-based practice implementation, and may provide psychoeducation to patients, families, and staff. The role requires flexibility to adapt to varying patient volumes and acuity levels within the stepped care framework, and may involve telehealth service delivery.

Doctoral degree in psychology from an APA, PCSAS, or CPA accredited program, with a specialty consistent with the assignment. Completion of an APA or CPA accredited professional psychology internship. Full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a state, territory, or the District of Columbia. For GS-11 entry level: no experience beyond basic requirements. For GS-12 developmental level: at least 1 year of experience as a professional psychologist equivalent to GS-11, with knowledge of a wide range of psychological treatments and assessment methods. English language proficiency. Non-licensed applicants may be considered for temporary appointment under supervision, with licensure required within two years.
