Junior Estimator

As a Junior Estimator, you will play a key role in supporting the estimating team by preparing accurate cost estimates for construction projects. Your primary responsibilities include reviewing project plans, specifications, and other documentation to understand the scope of work. You will assist in quantifying materials, labor, and equipment requirements, and input data into estimating software to generate preliminary cost models. You will collaborate with senior estimators to analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes, ensuring they align with project requirements. Additionally, you will help maintain historical cost data and update pricing databases. You will participate in site visits and pre-bid meetings to gather relevant information. Your work will involve preparing bid packages and supporting the team in presenting estimates to management. You will also track project costs during the construction phase to compare against estimates, identifying variances and contributing to lessons learned. This role requires attention to detail, strong mathematical skills, and the ability to work under deadlines. You will be expected to communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders to clarify project details. As you gain experience, you will take on more complex estimating tasks and contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes.

Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 0-2 years of experience in construction estimating or a related role. Strong analytical and mathematical skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel. Familiarity with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar) is a plus. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and processes.
