ELECTRONICS ENGINEER

As an Electronics Engineer, you will apply professional knowledge of engineering, mathematics, and statistical analysis to design, develop, and test electronic systems and components. Your responsibilities include analyzing electrical circuits, performing calculations involving differential and integral calculus, and applying principles of electrical fields and circuits to solve complex engineering problems. You will work with materials science concepts, including the nature and properties of materials, to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Additionally, you will engage in problem-solving related to thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and strength of materials as they apply to electronic systems. You will document technical findings, prepare reports, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate electronic designs into larger systems. The role requires staying current with advancements in electronics and engineering science, such as optics, heat transfer, and soil mechanics, to innovate and improve existing technologies. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with engineering standards and safety regulations throughout the design and testing phases.

To qualify for this position, you must meet one of the following educational requirements: 1. A bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution, with the program either accredited by ABET or including differential and integral calculus and courses in at least five of the following seven areas: statics/dynamics, strength of materials, fluid mechanics/hydraulics, thermodynamics, electrical fields and circuits, nature and properties of materials, or other comparable engineering science or physics areas (e.g., optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, electronics). For GS-7 level, you must have completed a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with documented Superior Academic Achievement (SAA), defined as a GPA of 2.95 or higher overall or 3.45 or higher in major field courses. For GS-9 level, you must have completed 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent, with a GPA of 2.95 or higher overall or 3.45 or higher in major field courses. If more than 10% of undergraduate credit hours are non-graded (e.g., pass/fail, CLEP, CCAF, DANTES, military credit), GPA-based qualification is not applicable.
