As an intern in Bioprocess Data Science and Causal AI, you will support the development of Digital Twins for large-scale mammalian cell culture manufacturing. Your primary focus will be on using time-course data from online sensors and offline metabolite measurements to predict process dynamics. Key responsibilities include:
- Analyzing bioprocess data to identify patterns and correlations that inform predictive models.
- Applying causal AI techniques to understand and model cause-effect relationships in cell culture processes.
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate data science solutions into bioprocess development workflows.
- Developing and validating machine learning models for real-time process monitoring and control.
- Documenting methodologies, results, and insights to support knowledge sharing and reproducibility.
- Contributing to the design of experiments and data collection strategies to enhance model accuracy.
- Staying updated on advancements in data science, causal inference, and bioprocessing to propose innovative approaches.
This internship offers hands-on experience in applying cutting-edge data science to real-world pharmaceutical manufacturing challenges, with a focus on improving efficiency and product quality.

To succeed in this role, you should have:
- Currently enrolled in a Master's or PhD program in Data Science, Computer Science, Bioinformatics, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong programming skills in Python, including experience with libraries such as Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, and TensorFlow or PyTorch.
- Knowledge of machine learning and statistical modeling techniques, with a preference for experience in causal inference or time-series analysis.
- Familiarity with bioprocessing or cell culture manufacturing is a plus.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills for presenting technical findings to diverse audiences.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency in English; German is beneficial but not required.
