As an Intern within Data Science and AI at Airbus Defence and Space, you will support the Data Processing & Analytics department in advancing digital technology and innovation. Your responsibilities will include: - Data Analysis and Modeling: Assist in analyzing large datasets to extract actionable insights, develop predictive models, and implement machine learning algorithms to solve complex problems in the aerospace domain. - AI Solution Development: Contribute to the design, testing, and deployment of AI-based solutions, including natural language processing, computer vision, or reinforcement learning projects, depending on current team priorities. - Data Pipeline Optimization: Work with data engineers to improve data collection, cleaning, and preprocessing pipelines, ensuring data quality and accessibility for analytics tasks. - Research and Innovation: Conduct literature reviews and experimental research on emerging AI techniques, proposing new approaches to enhance existing systems or develop novel applications. - Collaboration and Reporting: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software developers and domain experts, to integrate data science solutions into operational workflows. Prepare reports, visualizations, and presentations to communicate findings to stakeholders. - Tool and Technology Evaluation: Evaluate and test new data science tools, libraries, and platforms to recommend improvements for team efficiency and capability. - Documentation: Maintain clear documentation of methodologies, code, and project progress to ensure reproducibility and knowledge transfer within the team. This internship provides hands-on experience in a world-leading aerospace company, focusing on real-world applications of data science and AI. Qualifications and requirements: - Currently enrolled in a university degree program (Bachelor's or Master's) in Data Science, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, or a related field. - Strong foundational knowledge of machine learning, statistical modeling, and data analysis techniques. - Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and experience with relevant libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, pandas). - Familiarity with SQL and database concepts for data extraction and manipulation. - Basic understanding of software development practices (e.g., version control with Git). - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. - Strong communication skills in English (both written and verbal); German is a plus. - Prior internship or project experience in data science or AI is advantageous but not required. - Must be eligible to work in Germany and available for a 6-month internship starting September 2026.
