As an intern in the Central Research & Technology department at Airbus Defence and Space, you will contribute to the development of privacy-preserving communication systems using physical layer techniques. Your responsibilities include: - Research and analysis: Investigate state-of-the-art physical layer security methods, including techniques such as beamforming, artificial noise injection, and channel coding to enhance communication privacy. - Algorithm development: Design and simulate novel algorithms for privacy-preserving communication, focusing on physical layer approaches that prevent eavesdropping and unauthorized access. - Implementation: Implement selected algorithms in simulation environments (e.g., MATLAB, Python) to evaluate performance under various channel conditions and threat models. - Testing and validation: Conduct experiments to validate the effectiveness of proposed techniques, comparing them against existing security protocols. - Documentation: Prepare technical reports and presentations summarizing findings, methodologies, and recommendations for future research directions. - Collaboration: Work closely with senior researchers and engineers to integrate physical layer privacy techniques into broader communication system designs. - Optimization: Analyze trade-offs between privacy, data rate, and energy efficiency, and propose optimizations for practical deployment.

Qualifications and requirements: - Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. - Strong understanding of wireless communication principles, including modulation, channel coding, and signal processing. - Familiarity with physical layer security concepts (e.g., wiretap channel, secrecy capacity) is highly desirable. - Proficiency in programming languages such as MATLAB or Python for simulation and data analysis. - Basic knowledge of information theory and cryptography is a plus. - Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. - Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. - Good written and verbal communication skills in English; German is a plus.
