Internship within AIT (Assembly Integration and Test) for optical Instruments (d/f/m) - Inklusiver Job

As an intern within the Assembly, Integration and Test (AIT) team for optical instruments at Airbus Defence and Space, you will support the engineering team in the assembly, integration, and testing of optical payloads and instruments. Your responsibilities will include assisting in the preparation and execution of integration and test procedures for optical systems, such as telescopes, cameras, and spectrometers. You will work with mechanical, thermal, and optical subsystems, helping to ensure that all components meet stringent performance and quality standards. You will participate in the handling and alignment of optical elements, using precision tools and cleanroom protocols. Additionally, you will support the documentation of test results, including data analysis and reporting, and contribute to the continuous improvement of AIT processes. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, systems engineering, and project management, to ensure seamless integration of instruments into larger spacecraft or satellite platforms. You will also have the opportunity to learn about environmental testing, such as vibration, thermal vacuum, and optical performance tests, and assist in troubleshooting any issues that arise during the integration and test phases. This internship provides hands-on experience in a high-tech aerospace environment, focusing on the critical AIT phase of optical instrument development.

Currently enrolled in a university degree program in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, optical engineering, physics, or a related field. Basic understanding of optical systems and principles is preferred. Familiarity with mechanical assembly and integration processes is an advantage. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work in a cleanroom environment and follow strict safety and quality procedures. Good communication skills in English; German language skills are a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Hands-on attitude and willingness to learn. Previous internship or project experience in a technical or laboratory setting is desirable.
