Safety Specialist Internship

As a Safety Specialist Intern at Amazon Operations, you will play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing safety standards across fulfillment centers and delivery stations. Your primary responsibility is to support the safety team in implementing and monitoring safety programs to ensure a safe working environment for all employees. Key responsibilities include: - Conducting regular safety audits and inspections of facilities, equipment, and processes to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations. - Assisting in the investigation of workplace incidents, accidents, and near-misses, documenting findings, and recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence. - Collaborating with operations teams to develop and deliver safety training sessions for employees, covering topics such as proper lifting techniques, equipment operation, and emergency procedures. - Analyzing safety data and metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement, and preparing reports for management review. - Participating in safety committee meetings and contributing to the development of safety policies and procedures. - Supporting the implementation of ergonomic assessments and improvements to reduce workplace injuries. - Assisting in the coordination of emergency response drills and ensuring that emergency equipment is properly maintained. - Engaging with employees at all levels to promote a culture of safety and encourage reporting of safety concerns. - Maintaining accurate records of safety inspections, training, and incidents in compliance with regulatory requirements. - Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives by providing feedback and suggestions for enhancing safety programs. Qualifications and requirements: - Currently enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree program in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. - Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret safety data and identify trends. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with employees at all levels. - Basic knowledge of safety regulations and standards (e.g., OSHA, ISO 45001) is preferred. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment. - Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills. - Previous internship or work experience in a safety-related role is a plus. - Fluency in German and English is required for locations in Germany.
