Provide professional psychological services, including assessments, therapy, crisis intervention, and consultation, to support the mental health and operational readiness of Air Force personnel and their families.

岗位职责

As a Psychologist within the Air Force Civilian Service, you will provide professional psychological services to support the mental health and well-being of military personnel and their families. Your responsibilities include conducting psychological assessments, diagnosing mental health conditions, and developing treatment plans. You will deliver individual and group therapy sessions, utilizing evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and trauma-focused interventions. Additionally, you will participate in crisis intervention and emergency response services, providing immediate psychological support during critical incidents. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including medical officers, social workers, and chaplains, to ensure comprehensive care. Your role also involves conducting psychological evaluations for security clearances, fitness for duty assessments, and pre- and post-deployment screenings. You will provide consultation to commanders and leadership on psychological issues affecting unit readiness and morale. Furthermore, you will develop and deliver training programs on stress management, resilience, and mental health awareness to enhance the psychological resilience of airmen and their families. You will maintain accurate clinical records and documentation in compliance with regulatory standards. You may also supervise and mentor junior psychologists and interns, contributing to their professional development. Your work will directly impact the operational effectiveness and mental health of the Air Force community.

To qualify for this position, you must meet the following requirements: - Education: A degree in psychology from an accredited college or university. For clinical psychology positions at GS-11 and above, a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology is required. For counseling psychology positions at GS-9 and above, completion of two full academic years of graduate study directly related to professional work in counseling psychology, or a master's degree directly related to counseling psychology is required. - Grade Level Requirements: - GS-7: Completion of a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement (SAA), defined as a GPA of 2.95 or higher overall, or 3.45 or higher in the major field. - GS-9: Completion of two years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree, with a GPA of 2.95 or higher overall, or 3.45 or higher in the major field. - Additional Requirements: - Must be at least 16 years of age. - Must be a U.S. citizen or national (resident of American Samoa or Swains Island). - Must sign a mobility agreement. - All qualifications must be met prior to August 2026.
