Network Engineering Internship

As a Network Engineering Intern, you will strengthen the systems deployed directly at our antennas — a set of servers and network devices installed on-site to receive, demodulate, and transport satellite data to the cloud. You will work across connectivity, server operations, provisioning, and system security, helping us build reliable, scalable, next-generation ground network infrastructure. Your responsibilities will include: - Improving connectivity: explore, benchmark, and implement solutions to enhance network performance and reliability between ground stations and cloud infrastructure. - Managing server operations: assist in deploying, configuring, and maintaining on-site servers and network devices to ensure optimal uptime and performance. - Supporting provisioning: help automate and streamline the provisioning of new hardware and network configurations for expanding ground network sites. - Ensuring system security: collaborate on implementing security best practices, monitoring for vulnerabilities, and hardening network systems against threats. - Troubleshooting issues: diagnose and resolve network connectivity, hardware, and software problems in a timely manner to minimize service disruptions. - Documenting processes: create and maintain technical documentation for network configurations, procedures, and incident responses. - Collaborating with teams: work closely with engineering, operations, and security teams to integrate network solutions and support cross-functional projects. - Testing and validation: conduct tests on new network equipment and software updates to ensure compatibility and performance before deployment. - Monitoring systems: use monitoring tools to track network health, identify anomalies, and proactively address potential issues. - Contributing to scalability: participate in designing and implementing network architectures that support future growth and increased data throughput.

Qualifications and requirements: - Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Network Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. - Basic understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, routing, switching, VLANs). - Familiarity with Linux/Unix operating systems and command-line tools. - Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation tasks. - Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Prior internship or project experience in network engineering or IT is a plus. - Knowledge of cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP) is desirable. - Understanding of security principles (firewalls, VPNs, encryption) is beneficial.
