Basic Requirements: Degree in Physics or a related field that included at least 24 semester hours in physics. For GS-7: Completion of a 4-year bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with documented Superior Academic Achievement (SAA), defined as a GPA of 2.95 or higher overall, or 3.45 or higher in the major field or final 2 years of curriculum. For GS-9: Completion of 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent, with a GPA of 2.95 or higher overall, or 3.45 or higher in the major field or final 2 years of curriculum. If more than 10% of undergraduate credit hours are non-graded (e.g., pass/fail, CLEP, CCAF, DANTES, military credit), GPA-based qualification is not applicable. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Professional knowledge of physical laws, policies, theories, principles, and concepts, with familiarity in other scientific and engineering disciplines. Ability to analyze, interpret, and apply physical laws and procedures, and recommend effective solutions. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Knowledge of computer operations and standard software applications. Credit is given for appropriate unpaid or part-time work; duties and hours per week must be clearly identified.
