As a Boilermaker Apprentice, you will engage in a four-year apprenticeship program focused on developing skills in boilermaking and welding within the oil and gas sector. Your responsibilities will include:
- Assisting in the fabrication, assembly, and installation of boilers, tanks, and other metal structures according to specifications and blueprints.
- Performing welding tasks using various techniques, including arc, gas, and MIG welding, under the guidance of experienced tradespeople.
- Conducting inspections and testing of welded joints and metal components to ensure quality and compliance with safety standards.
- Maintaining and repairing existing boilers, pressure vessels, and related equipment as needed.
- Operating hand and power tools, such as grinders, drills, and cutting torches, safely and effectively.
- Following strict safety protocols and procedures to maintain a safe working environment, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Collaborating with team members and supervisors to complete projects on time and to required specifications.
- Participating in on-the-job training and formal education components to progress through the apprenticeship stages.
- Documenting work activities, including materials used and time spent on tasks, for record-keeping and reporting purposes.
- Learning to interpret technical drawings and schematics to guide fabrication and repair work.
