Inventory Management Specialist

As an Inventory Management Specialist, you will develop the ability to effectively manage change and complexity within the Air Force environment as it relates to inventory management. Your responsibilities include overseeing inventory control processes, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of supplies and equipment, and coordinating with various departments to optimize inventory levels. You will analyze inventory data to identify trends, forecast future needs, and implement strategies to minimize shortages and excesses. Additionally, you will conduct regular audits and inspections to maintain compliance with regulations and standards. You will also collaborate with procurement and logistics teams to streamline supply chain operations and improve efficiency. Your role involves using inventory management systems to maintain records, generate reports, and support decision-making. You will provide guidance and training to junior staff on inventory procedures and best practices. Furthermore, you will participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance inventory accuracy and reduce costs. You will also respond to inquiries and resolve issues related to inventory discrepancies, ensuring timely and accurate resolution. Your work will contribute to the overall effectiveness of the Air Force's inventory management operations, supporting mission readiness and operational success.

To qualify for this position at the GS-9 level, you must meet one of the following criteria: (1) Completion of 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or equivalent graduate degree, or a master's or equivalent graduate degree in a field such as business administration, industrial management, industrial engineering, industrial psychology, public administration, political science, or government. (2) One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-07 that provided knowledge to perform the duties of the position. (3) A combination of graduate education and specialized experience that equates to 100% of the requirements. Additionally, you must meet one of the following academic achievements: class standing in the upper third of your graduating class; a grade point average of 2.95 or higher out of 4.0 (based on completed courses or final 2 years of curriculum) or 3.45 or higher out of 4.0 (based on required courses in your major field); or election to membership in a national scholastic honor society.
