EOI - Apprenticeship

As an Apprentice with Barminco, you will begin your career in the underground mining industry by completing a nationally recognised qualification while gaining hands-on experience. Your primary responsibilities include working alongside experienced tradespeople to develop practical skills in maintaining and repairing heavy mobile equipment. You will assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, or fabrication issues depending on your chosen trade path: Mobile Plant Fitter, Auto Electrician, or Boilermaker. Specific duties involve performing routine inspections, servicing machinery, and conducting repairs under supervision to ensure equipment reliability and safety. You will learn to interpret technical manuals, use diagnostic tools, and apply industry-standard procedures. Additionally, you will participate in on-the-job training and formal coursework to build competence in your trade. Your role requires adherence to strict safety protocols and a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized work environment. You will collaborate with team members to complete tasks efficiently and contribute to a positive workplace culture. Over the apprenticeship period, you will progressively take on more complex tasks, demonstrating growth in technical skills and problem-solving abilities. This position offers a structured pathway to becoming a qualified tradesperson in the underground mining sector.

To be considered for this apprenticeship, you must be motivated and eager to learn in a hands-on environment. No prior trade experience is required, but a strong interest in underground mining and mechanical, electrical, or fabrication work is essential. You should have a commitment to completing a nationally recognised qualification and be willing to undertake both on-the-job and off-the-job training. Basic literacy and numeracy skills are necessary for understanding technical documents and performing measurements. Physical fitness and the ability to work in demanding conditions are important. You must demonstrate a strong focus on safety and the ability to follow instructions. A valid driver's license and reliable transport are preferred. You must be eligible to work in Australia and willing to work in remote locations across Western Australia.
