Apprentice Arborist

As an Apprentice Arborist, you will learn from experienced professional tradespeople in a hands-on environment. Your primary responsibilities include assisting with tree care operations such as pruning, removal, and planting under the guidance of certified arborists. You will learn to operate and maintain arboricultural equipment, including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts, ensuring safety protocols are followed at all times. Additionally, you will participate in tree health assessments, identifying pests, diseases, and structural issues, and applying appropriate treatments. You will also support the team in site preparation, cleanup, and debris management. Throughout the apprenticeship, you will develop skills in climbing techniques, rigging, and tree risk assessment, contributing to the maintenance of prestigious green spaces. You will receive fully supplied uniform and personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure a safe working environment. This role offers a structured learning pathway within a growing organization, with opportunities to advance in the arboriculture field.

To be successful in this role, you should have a strong interest in arboriculture and outdoor work. No prior experience is required, as training will be provided, but a willingness to learn and work in a physically demanding environment is essential. You must be able to work at heights and in various weather conditions. A valid driver’s license is preferred. Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team are important. Physical fitness and a commitment to safety are required. Educational requirements include completion of Year 10 or equivalent.
